Prep Tryout Camp

The MN Soccer Academy Tryout Prep Camp is open to all players aged 10-16 years. 

The camp will be held at the Middle School East soccer fields in St. Michael.

This camp is curriculum was developed to prepare players for tryouts for one of the following:

  • TCSL Premier 1 & 2
  • TCSL Regional, State & Cities
  • High School Freshman, JV and/or Varsity Team

Pre-Tryout Camp will consist of technical work, 1v1, 2v2 and small-sided games to help players develop their confidence for their Tryouts 

Please note:  Attending this camp does NOT guarantee that your player will make the team that they desire.

For all players trying out for elevated TCSL club teams (Premier, Regional,State and cities)
For all players trying out for their High school varsity soccer teams

Pre Tryout Camp Curriculum

Day 1: Players

  • Warm-up: Dynamic stretching (high knees, leg swings, lunges, etc.) - 15 minutes
  • Sports Psychology Session: Visualization techniques, goal-setting, and positive affirmations - 20 minutes
  • Team Meeting: Coach discusses tryout expectations, players goals, and motivational strategies - 15 minutes
  • Full-Sided Scrimmage: 7v7 game simulation to implement tactical concepts in a tryout scenario - 20 minutes

Day 2: 1v1 and 2v2

  • Warm-up: Dynamic stretching (high knees, leg swings, lunges, etc.) - 15 minutes
  • Small-Sided Games: 1v1 or 2v2 games emphasizing quick decision-making and movement off the ball - 50 minutes

Day 3: Work on weak areas

  • Warm-up: Dynamic stretching (high knees, leg swings, lunges, etc.) - 15 minutes
  • Individual Skill Review: Players work on their weak areas identified during the previous days - 30 minutes
  • Small-Sided Games: 1v1 or 2v2 games emphasizing quick decision-making and movement off the ball - 30 minutes

Day 4: Shooting

  • Warm-up: Dynamic stretching (high knees, leg swings, lunges, etc.) - 15 minutes
  • Dribbling: Cone drills focusing on close control and change of direction - 20 minutes
  • Passing: Partner passing drills (short and long range) - 10 minutes
  • Shooting: Shooting drills from different angles and distances - 30 minutes

 

This curriculum provides a comprehensive approach to prepare players physically, technically, tactically, and mentally for soccer tryouts. Adjustments can be made based on the age, skill level, and specific requirements of the tryout.
